Featherbottom and Partners proudly present the new Thameside Water Co Headquarters in Reading. After billions of taxpayer pounds secured from His Majesty’s Government, the redevelopment of this site aims to restore pride in Britain’s water companies.
The proposal is a celebration of Britain’s historic relationship with its waterways, crowed by the resolute symbol of British strength, the iconic lion. Towering over the River, the lion allows for a dramatic discharge of sewage directly into the Thames. A British tradition since proudly being unshackled by EU environmental regulation, that also allows for more traditional sewage design considerations to be omitted that saves costs.
This project arrives amidst widespread criticism of water companies for prioritising shareholder dividends over infrastructure investment. Featherbottom and Partners have collaborated closely with the client to address these reputational challenges. This solution not only aims to elevate the public perception but also seeks to foster a renewed sense of purpose among employees, enhancing productivity.
The luxurious new offices designed to reflect the King’s architectural sensibilities, are envisioned as an inspirational workspace to boost productivity, enhance company performance, and underline Thameside Water Co's commitment. With the majestic lion as its centerpiece, the proposal embodies the enduring strength of Britain’s utilities sector.
